Environmental management professional, carbon market specialist, and founder of Vertalys.
I help Quebec manufacturers turn GHG data into a competitive advantage.
I’ve spent most of my career at the intersection of environmental science and business reality. After completing a Master’s degree in Environmental Management, I went to work on one of the more complex challenges in the sustainability space : helping large food and industrial companies actually reduce the emissions embedded in their supply chains — not just measure them, not just report them, but genuinely reduce them through structured programs with their upstream suppliers.
In that work, I sat on the buyer side of the table. I saw firsthand how major manufacturers and processors evaluate their suppliers’ environmental performance — what they actually look for in an EcoVadis assessment, what makes a GHG report credible versus dismissible, and what separates a supplier that wins contracts from one that loses them on ESG criteria. What struck me was how many Quebec SMEs were on the receiving end of these requirements with no structured support, no guidance on methodology, and no understanding of what their buyers actually needed to see.
I launched Vertalys to close that gap. Not as a large consulting firm with generic frameworks adapted to every industry — but as a focused, bilingual practice built specifically for Quebec manufacturing SMEs navigating real supply chain pressure, real regulatory requirements, and real procurement criteria. The kind of practical, rigorous support I would have wanted to give the suppliers I was working with — but that didn’t exist in French, at the right scale, for the right price
Several years working on carbon sequestration programs where major food and industrial processors finance upstream emissions reductions across their agricultural supplier networks. Deep understanding of how Scope 3 emissions are measured, validated, and reduced in complex supply chains.
Hands-on experience with GHG calculation methodology across multiple sectors, including exposure to annual inventory processes, data collection protocols, and the practical challenges of working with imperfect or incomplete data in real organizational contexts.
Direct experience working alongside major manufacturers and processors as they evaluate and engage their supplier base on carbon performance — including understanding of EcoVadis assessment criteria, CDP Supply Chain requirements, and procurement ESG scoring frameworks.
A good GHG assessment completed with imperfect data is worth infinitely more than a perfect assessment that never gets done. We work with the data you actually have, document our estimation approaches transparently, and produce results that are useful and defensible — not paralyzed by the pursuit of theoretical precision.
Every deliverable is built to be understood and used by your team — not to require a consultant to interpret it. The goal is that after working with Vertalys, your organization is measurably more capable of managing its environmental performance independently.
Every engagement starts with a clear definition of what we’re measuring and why — before collecting a single data point. A well-scoped assessment takes less time, costs less, and produces more useful results than a poorly scoped one three times the size.
Every calculation uses documented, traceable methodology — official Canadian emission factors, recognized international standards, clearly stated assumptions. When your buyer’s auditor looks at your report, it holds up. When you need to update it next year, you know exactly how it was built.
Sustainability consulting covers a wide range of topics. We’re specialists, not generalists — and we think that’s a good thing. Here’s exactly what you can expect from us, and where we’ll point you elsewhere.
